Kanyaluo Ward, Karachuonyo
Awach Tende Community Water Project
The Awach Tende Community Water Project is a transformative piped-water initiative designed to end chronic water scarcity in the Awach Tende area. The main pipeline runs from the Kagan border at Onyege, through Kanyaluo, and terminates at Adiedo Centre, creating a reliable water corridor that serves multiple villages along the route. To guarantee equitable public access, fully constructed and operational water kiosks have been established at key centres including Jamna, Orire, Omboga, and Adiedo strategically positioned to serve surrounding settlements within safe walking distance. In addition to these public points, the project is already rolling out last mile individual household connections along the Kanyaluo corridor, ensuring the benefits extend beyond kiosks to reach families directly at home. Overall, the project provides a sustainable lifeline by improving day-to-day access to clean water, reducing the time and cost of water collection, and strengthening community health and resilience for households that have struggled for decades with unreliable supply.
